Fable Brewery

Fable Brewery was founded from a belief that beer should bring people together. Built on the Essex coast and inspired by nature, storytelling and modern brewing, Fable exists to create beer with both character and drinkability at its heart. We specialise in producing clean, balanced and expressive beers that combine traditional British brewing principles with modern techniques and ingredients.

Fable Lager sits at the heart of the brewery’s philosophy, a beer built around simplicity, beauty and technical precision. It is brewed to be clean, crisp and refreshingly simple. With delicate malt character, gentle bitterness and a crisp finish. Particular attention is given to light stability and packaging quality to ensure the beer performs exceptionally well from brewery to glass. The result is a contemporary independent lager that values beauty, flavour and repeat drinkability above all else.

By combining small-scale craftsmanship with progressive brewing methods, we aim to push independent brewing forward while staying rooted in the values that make it meaningful.

Based on Wallasea Island, Fable is deeply connected to the surrounding landscape and community. Whether it’s a quiet pint after a long day, a beer shared with friends, or a story told across the bar, every Fable beer is intended to become part of a moment worth remembering.

About Sam Martyn

Fable Brewery is led by award winning head brewer Sam Martyn, whose approach to brewing combines creativity, technical precision and a passion for producing beer that people genuinely want to drink again and again. Having been in the industry for over 10 years and a qualified brewer; Sam's knowledge and technical ability can be seen in our beers.

With a particular interest in lager brewing, beer history and modern brewing science, Sam founded Fable with the ambition of creating a brewery that values quality over hype and long term innovation over trends. His philosophy centres around balance, beers that are expressive and characterful, yet always approachable and drinkable.

Outside of the brewery, Sam draws inspiration from nature, endurance running, music and the landscapes surrounding the Essex coast. Influences that continue to shape the identity and direction of Fable Brewery.
